How it works

  1. The preset is set to 1000 × 1000 px, JPG, up to 8 MB.
  2. Drop your photo. It is cropped around the centre to the exact shape, then compressed until it fits.
  3. Check the row: size, pixels, and whether it cleared the minimum.
  4. Download, and upload it to the portal.

Before you upload

  • The 8 MB cap is generous; the real constraint is the crop. The preset outputs a 1000 × 1000 square so the circle crop still looks sharp on a desktop.
  • If your photo is landscape, the tool crops to a square around the centre; use the crop tool first if your face is off-centre.

Questions

Which size looks best?

Around 1000 × 1000 pixels. Larger files are downscaled by LinkedIn anyway, and 400 × 400 looks soft on high-density screens.

Does LinkedIn accept WebP, HEIC or GIF?

No. The help page lists PNG and JPG and says GIFs are not supported. Convert first; this preset writes a JPG from any of them.

Why is my upload rejected at under 8 MB?

Usually the dimensions, not the size: images above 7680 × 4320 or with an extreme aspect ratio fail. Resize to a square under 2000 pixels and retry.
