Compress image to 20 KB

Drop a photo and get a file at or under 20 KB, at the best quality that fits. Add exact pixels if the form asks for them.

or drop images here to get them under 20 KBJPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC and more. Nothing is uploaded. You can also paste a screenshot.

How it works

  1. The limit is set to 20 KB; change it if your form says otherwise, or add a minimum.
  2. Open the options to add an exact pixel size when the rule gives one.
  3. Drop the images. The ruler under each shows where the result landed against the limit.
  4. Download one, or all as a ZIP.

Who needs 20 KB

Twenty kilobytes is the classic ceiling for a passport-style photo on Indian government application forms: IBPS, SBI, RRB and many state exams ask for a photograph between 20 KB and 50 KB, and some older portals cap it at 20 KB flat (SSC now captures the photo live in the form instead of taking a file). A phone photo is 3 to 6 MB, so the reduction is more than a hundred to one.

  • Exam application photographs (IBPS, SBI, RRB, UPSC)
  • Signatures where the limit is 20 KB
  • ID photos for school and college portals

What to expect at 20 KB

The tool first lowers JPG quality, and when that is not enough it reduces the pixel size, usually to something like 300 × 350 pixels for a head-and-shoulders photo. That is still fine for a form, because the portal shows the photo at about that size anyway. Plain backgrounds compress best.

Other limits

10 KB, 50 KB, 100 KB, 200 KB, 500 KB, 1 MB

Questions

The form wants 200 × 230 pixels and 20 to 50 KB. Can I do both at once?

Yes. Open the advanced options and enter 200 by 230 pixels; the tool crops to that frame first and then searches for the quality that lands under 50 KB. The photo requirement pages have this preset ready.

Why does my 20 KB photo look worse than a friend's?

Busy backgrounds, patterned shirts and heavy noise from a dark room all cost bytes. A photo against a plain wall in daylight keeps far more detail at the same file size.

Does the tool upload my photo to check the size?

No. The whole search runs on your device using the browser's own image encoder. You can turn off Wi-Fi after the page has loaded and it still works.
