Before you upload

  • The portal rejects files below 20 KB as readily as files above 50 KB. The preset keeps the highest quality under 50 KB, which for a 200 × 230 photo usually lands between 25 and 45 KB.
  • If the result comes out under 20 KB, the photo is too plain (a flat wall and a dark shirt compress very well); raise the minimum in the options and the tool will pick a higher quality.
  • Crop so the face fills most of the frame before applying the preset; the tool fills 200 × 230 by cropping around the centre.

Questions

The form says 200 × 230 pixels preferably. Is another size accepted?

The notifications say 'preferably', and the upload page shows a preview; sizes close to 200 × 230 usually pass, but the exact size never fails, so use it.

My photo is 18 KB after the preset. Will it be rejected?

Likely yes, because the range is 20 to 50 KB. Set the minimum to 20 KB in the options; the tool raises quality until the file clears the floor.

Do I still need a photo file if the form takes a live photo?

Yes. The 2025 and 2026 notifications ask for both: the scanned passport-style photograph uploaded as a file, and a live photograph captured through the webcam or phone camera while you fill the form. Do not hold a printed photo up to the camera; that is rejected.

Does the signature use the same preset?

No. The signature rule is 140 × 60 pixels and 10 to 20 KB; it has its own preset.
